Cobalt Friction: Product Annoucement/Inquiry
Many Honda-Tech.com/Cobalt customers have inquired about OE-fitment premium replacement rotors, and in the past, it has not been a large part of Cobalt's business, mainly due to the fact that there are a few shops/companies which sell rotors for well below wholesale to the public. I have, in the past, referred Cobalt customers to a couple of these businesses which sell OE-replacement rotors at very competitive prices.
However, Cobalt would like to provide its customers with a "one-stop" solution for both the best technical expertise, as well as product selection and competitive prices, for their high-performance braking needs. Thus, I have secured very competitive prices on premium quality (Australian or Italian manufacture) oe-fitment/replacement rotors.
Rather than post an entire price list (which is not complete in any case), I'll just drop a couple examples of what I mean by "competitive", keeping in mind that Cobalt only charges for actual shipping costs via UPS, and not a flat fee of $8-$12/rotor.
Examples are:
1994-01 Acura Integra
FRONT ROTOR -- $29
REAR ROTOR -- $29
Acura Integra Type-R
FRONT ROTOR -- $36
REAR ROTOR -- $29
I will leave it to Honda-Tech.com/Cobalt customers to let me know if these prices are "competitive enough" for a premium quality oe-spec replacement rotor.
Most of the premium quality rotors Cobalt will carry (depends on fitment, but most), have a black, heat resistant, anti-corrosion coating on the non-contact surfaces of the rotor and hat. Further, most rotors are also double-ground on a lathe (similar to cylinder-honing), and mill balanced. The manufacturing facilities for these rotors are ISO 9000 Certified.
Cobalt is slowly adding many fitments to the line of OE-fitment rotors we carry, and have product coverage for 90% of Japanese and European imports, as well as Domestic vehicles.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an e-mail at info@cobaltfriction.com .
With Best Regards,
Andie

Will,
Unfortunately, I am not as oblivious to what actually happens to a set of rotors in the hands of someone like yourself, Corey, or myself, as Pep Boys and Autozone are...I think if a Autozone Regional Manager went to an HPDE, their replacement/warranty program would end the next day.
<grin>
Until that time comes...a big HOORAH to Autozone, hehe.

EDIT: The oe-fitment rotors I will be carrying are just that...oe-spec fitment...I will not be modifying the rotor to fit a "special" aftermarket application. This is left to our BBK's...

Sounds good Andie. I may be in for a set of rears if you have them for my car as well.
BTW just to put in a good word. I received my pads from Andie today and am very pleased. His customer support is the best i've experienced. He even included a card on how to bed the pads in.

Rotor prices sound quite reasonable.
I still have a set of front ACURA OEM ITR rotors sitting around somewhere that were $120 from the dealer.
I'll probably send them out to get cryo'd sometime soon before I actually use them!

yeah i just installed my axiss ultimates i got from andie and they seem like a good pad so far.
With andies CS, i wouldnt mind paying a few extra bucks for your rotors
If they beat or match the competition

apexii:
Only the 1997-02 Prelude (Base and SH models) use the same front rotor as the Integra Type-R.
The 1992-96 Prelude VTEC uses the same PAD as the ITR (and NSX and some model Accords, etc.), but a different rotor.

p.s. Working on new bedding cards...the old ones are running out, and I'd like to make them look nicer and be easier to read.

I think this question is for those of us out there who are using Accord/ITR front brakes on our Civic's. We use the 92-96 Prelude VTEC rotor redrilled to 4X100 for our setups.
The Prelude VTEC rotor is prefered over the ITR rotor due to 2 specific reasons... it is originally a 4 lug so there is a bit more room to redrill and the center bore on this rotor is smaller and mates better to the Civic hub. (All else is equal I believe - offset, thickness, diameter)
So the question is.... can you get a 92-96 Prelude Rotor in a 4X100 bolt pattern?

Well, yes and no.
Due to liability reasons, I do not wish to modify products which are intended for street use, for use on the track, etc. At least not until I have a product liability policy which specifically covers this type of modification. Further, I am not a big "fan" of redrilling lug holes in rotors...it does weaken the rotor.
However, I know that Brian Hasty at Fast Brakes sells re-drilled rotors, and his work looks good to me, as I have seen some of his kits before. I would suggest that you forward your inquiry to Brian and see if he can source a modified/redrilled rotor for you (I'm sure he can...).

Yup... I know Brian and I am currently using his product. I was hoping for another alternative is all as Brian is at times out of stock or difficult to get ahold of.
Is is possible to get a true undrilled "Blank" in this (92-96 Prelude VTEC) configuation?
Thanks!

Rambler,
I will look into this for you.
Likewise, I will call Brian and see if he will re-drill rotors if I send him a large batch of them...perhaps 20 rotors...maybe that will get things moving. If so, then I'd just stock them on my side when they are finished, so long as you have a consistent demand for them.
I'll let you know what I find.

Yeah, I need these rotors as well, the 92-96 Prelude VTEC 11" front rotors redrilled to 4x100, this is what I am currently using(along with 98+Accord V6 front calipers), Brian's fastbrakes SpecR kit, I would like to buy another replacement set soon, let us know what you guys can work out(and check on his rear 11.4" rotors as well if you can, but front is most important), so far I see that there are atleast 5 of us that are requesting these rotors, thanks a lot Andie, I am enjoying the Axxis Ultimates I got from you with this setup, later

I just got off the phone with Brian at Fast Brakes. He said that this turnaround is only a couple days on the 4x100 redrilled Prelude VTEC rotors. I plan on having Brian send me a few rotors to stock on my end at Cobalt, but for the time being, you should call him directly to order these orders. He will be returning on Monday.

From: Formerly WI, now back in NorCal and everywhere else
Acura Integra Type-R
FRONT ROTOR -- $36
REAR ROTOR -- $29
These prices are good enough that I'd buy rotors from Cobalt if I were buying brakes, anyway.
