Default Automatic Transmission Compatibility AWD & FWD

I have been digging through some old posts in this sub-forum. One thing I have seen plenty of are questions asking about FWD to AWD swaps as well as usdm and jdm compatibility.

My question is about taking a FWD transmission and putting it in a 1997 AWD Cr-v. Will this work properly given the engine computer will not see the AWD aspect anymore? Or is the AWD auto trans my only replacement option?

Let me know if you need any more information I might have left out.

The RT4WD system is purely mechanical. The computer has no idea it even exists.

That is good to hear. The only other thing I found in my searching is that certain year CR-Vs came with and without overdrive? Would this be my last remaining hurdle in sourcing a replacement transmission?
