Is this weldable?( thin material)
Hi everyone, I removed the badge on my kamikaze header because it cracked and it was over runners 2 and 3 which made it a pain to check the oil. the badge is only 0.022" thick, is it possible to weld the crack? the material is 302 stainless steel.
I went to talk to a welder in my area and he told me because of how thin it was it would be difficult/impossible to weld? Would anyone on the forum be interested in doing it? I would pay of course
Have a piece of copper/aluminum/heat sink flat against the bottom and a piece of copper around the area to help with controlling the arc. Your arc out is what will probably kill the plate. Make sure that piece is clamped tight to the heat sink and it shouldnt be that hard. But again it probably wont look pretty.
