89-91 Civic Si Hubcaps (wheelcovers) and steel wheels
Question:
Will the OE 89-91 Civic Si 14" hubcaps (wheelcovers) fit any 14" steel wheel made for a 4x100 Honda? For instance, there was nothing specific about the stock 89-91 steelie that the stock hubcap was designed for, correct? So if I have a 14" steel wheel from an 01 Civic, that should allow the hubcap to fit.
And, I am aware that you cannot use just any steel wheel as the wheel must be made to accept the Honda style lugnut and lugnut washer (in order for the hubcap to fit between the wheel and the lugnut.
Just curious.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the deciding factor will be the width and offset since the lug nut and wheel cover are fixed. I bought a set of steelies off a friend from his Integra and the offset was different. What ended up happening was the center of the cover was pulled in and the outside edges didn't sit on the lip of the rim giving my car this hellaflush steelie hubcap look. I'm pretty sure they weren't Honda steel wheels now but just saying to demonstrate the main point.
I just tried them on a new set of OEM Honda Civic 01-05 14x5.5" steel wheels. They did not fit properly.
The hubcap would not sit flush on the wheel.

Is it a problem with the physical design of the wheel? Those short "legs" on the back on the hubcap may be hitting areas on the wheel that are different on the 88-91 wheels?
Yes, it's those little tabs/clips/fingers (whatever they are) just around the outside of the lugnut holes that were interfering with a part of the steel wheel. If I grinded those tabs off they would fit no problem, but I'm not going to do that.
