d16y7 oil consumption. What is it?
Alright. 96 civic lx. Cheap car that I drive a little over a thousand miles a week. Car consumes about a quart of oil every 350 ish miles. Went through and replaced all my seals around the motor and the motor doesn't have any leaks anymore. Motor is clean and has stayed clean for a month or two now. Also took a compression test and I had high compression in every cylinder. So what could it be? Currently the car runs like a two stoke, doesn't smoke, but it uses enough oil to raise the cost per gallon which adds up over time.
Post compression results. Any CEL's? Post codes if so. Is there a oil puddle or shiny pool of liquid under your car when you park it for the night?
A quick checklist of seals that commonly leak.
Distributor o ring
cam seal
crank seal
front main seal (behind flywheel)
oil pan gasket
valve cover gasket
vtec solenoid gasket
Confirm all these are replaced/and or not leaking.

I have replaced all the seals that were leaking, ex: oil pan gasket, camshaft seal, distributor seal, valve cover assortment, etc...
All seals are intact now and the car is leak free.
Also, I have replaced the flywheel and clutch assembly on this vehicle so I have visual inspected every seal to be weep free at this point.
Also, no check engine lights, no oil puddles. Engine has been degreased as well to pick up on any leaks that spring up much easier.
Compression was in the 140-150 range.
Im thinking the only thing at this point would be if its burning oil and i see it on the plugs lightly after 8k miles would be valve seals and guides? Do both need to be replaced? Or just one or the other?
