Default Coil spring compressors

I've tried to disassemble the factory shocks from my 92 Accord and I was not able to find a spring compressor tool that would fit (all of them were too large, intended for MacPherson struts).

Has anyone used a compressor that worked?

I've used the two piece coil spring compressors on my '95(similar/same suspension as 90-93). McPherson strut spring compressors are made for larger springs/assemblies, not our coil-overs.

I tried that style. That looks like a strut spring, I couldn't get them to fit my coilover spring?

Why would you need a spring compressor to remove a coilover spring? Unless ya meant coil spring.

Ghetto way, step on spring/shocks and shoot off the nut with a impact gun. Make sure the area is clear first.
The shock will fling off a few feet or less.

I thought the fronts were technically coilover shocks from the factory?

Either way, I would be installing lowering springs onto some new dampers so I would have to compress them to do it.

I had a similar problem when putting lowering springs on my car. That tool mad Mike shows is the obi I used, and the own coils are close enough together that I actually had to disassemble the compressor and rock the bits in between the coils and reconnect with the threaded rod.

They are.
But most folks think 'coil overs' are only the name given to adjustable types.
F-150 guys call the factory coil over assembly a 'strut', it gets pretty silly when attempting to purchase parts.

If the ones you have don't fit the coils themselves, try using them on the coils and the top/bottom plates to compress/keep compressed the assembly so you can loosen/remove the shock nut safely.
