Default 95 Civic - Speedometer and gas gauge problems

I Re-Soldered my Civic's Speedometer and it works from time to time, however my gas gauge now reads a full tank and before i did all of this i know for a fact that i had around a half of a tank... Does anyone know a permanent solution for this? Or can anyone provide a link for a new instrument cluster?

I think it's car-part.com which is a nationwide database of junkyards. Oh I'm sorry "parts recycler centers" lol. Yeah I just looked at what is available, not much at all from Honda directly! You could always sent off the entire cluster to a speedometer shop who could rework the circuit board/soldering. That's a thought too. Wouldn't be cheap but it would be fixed.

Post pictures of your re-soldering work, and also post the CEL codes.

The fuel gauge issue is likely a separate issue -- a short in cluster fuel gauge wire that leads to the tank sending unit.

I've gotten a new speedometer but how do you suggest I fix the fuel gauge

So here's what happened to the fuel gauge. When you put the cluster back together, the two screws that hold the fuel gauge were turned a little too much and one, or both, of the tiny copper winding's on the back of the gauge broke. You will have to take it back out and look really closely where the bare copper wire connects to the threaded post/hole where the screw goes. I had the same problem and it's common to tighten the screws as tight as you would any other, not knowing of the design. I took a very small diameter bare wire and soldered it on the end of the copper wire and then back to the post/hole. Problem fixed. Or you could find another cluster and pilfer the fuel gauge, just make sure not to over tighten. Let me know if you want a visual and I'll post a pic later.

Overtightening is usually the cause.
