94 Ciivc dx with 97 S40 trans pops out of 2nd gear while autocrossing but ONLY on hard right hand turns. I tried a lot of straight line pulls & hard lefts, stays in 2nd fine. Any chance it is something other than the 2nd gear syncro ?

 

The countershaft bearing in the clutch housing side of the transmission walked out. When you take the transmission apart the bearing will be raised about an 1/8th of inch past the housing. Clean everything up, tap the bearing back in place and stake it there with a hammer and punch.
