94 civic check engine but no codes

Icon2 94 civic check engine but no codes

I have a 94 civic auto v tech it doesn't have a check engine but recently while driving it will come on until I complete my route and turn off the car then start it and it is off again I attempted to pull the codes but doesn't throw any any help or suggestions

So you are trying to read the car after the CEL is reset and off?

Not recommended as this^ would disable ECU adjustment of the ignition timing.

Instead, leave engine running when CEL turns on and you jump connector.

true enough that it would, but doubtful that it'd hurt anything if done for a short while. for ronj's suggestion, i've seen switches installed on the jumper wires so that this can be done on the fly.

You know, this isn't a half bad idea to do permanently.

I believe the 25 amp toggle switches that were on sale at Princess Auto might be overkill but slapping one of those onto that service connector sure would simplify things...
