All,
For sale is my 89 Honda 'Flatback' Civic.
Background:
I purchased this car in February of 2013 from an older couple that owned it from new. From the day they drove it off the lot to the day it landed in my hands, this car was nothing more than a garage-kept, grocery-getter. It was maintained extremely well by this nice couple (I hope my generation produces the same responsible and sensible people).
General Details:
- 170~k miles on the odometer
- Current CA registration
- Clean title
- light modifications (Yakima roof racks, Tein street coilovers, Kenwood head unit and speakers)
Common quesitons I'm getting:
- No A/C (from the factory - buttons are on the console, nothing under the hood)
- No power steering
- Clutch replacement should happen as soon as the new owner can do it. It's still drivable but needs replacement. Price of the replacement is factored into the price. I've had other Honda enthusiasts tell me it should be around $600-700 for a shop to replace the clutch.
Condition (mechanical):
The car is in very great shape mechanically. Has a small leak in the oil pan from the drain plug. The clutch is showing its age with slippage under heavy load--it should be replaced soon. These are the only two mechanical issues to note.
Condition (exterior):
As I mentioned before, this car was garage kept from '89 to '13, so naturally the exterior is in amazing shape for a close-to 30 year old car. I've added a picture of what I consider the worst ding, which is on the rear passenger side quarter panel.
Condition (interior):
The interior is in excellent shape. All electronics work. Carpet is in great shape, as are the seats. There is a burn from what looks like a cig butt on the back seat (unsure how that got there as I don't smoke). There's also a small tear in the rear door card - if you're handy with crazy glue it can be remedied.
Final details:
Asking price is $1500 firm
