Those are not for the ROOF HOLDER.

Yes I googled, I majestic honda'd, I rock auto'd, I spent over an hour searching this site.

There's nothing about ROOF HOLDER lift supports here, and there's one pair of USED ones on ebay. I do not want 20 year old used lift supports.

 

New ones are available on eBay.

No, Majestic Honda does not have them in stock, they're discontinued. And 21 year old ebay lift struts are not what I am looking for they won't hold the roof up. Thanks.

They aren't much smaller than the trunk ones, maybe take one of each off and compare the sizes?

Or get the dimensions and try to match it at the parts store?

Looks like they were custom made by Showa for Honda, they have a number on them 3D20 that's it. and it doesn't cross reference to anything. They measure out to about 14.5" x 9.5" and I don't know the weight rating, but There's a universal strong arm that has ball ends on both ends that with some cutting and welding will work.

The strong arm part numbers are 4517, 4683, 4518, Those are 60lb, 75lb and 100lb lifts.

 

used are about as good as itll get. i have a good pair from a 128k mile del sol i parted, good luck with finding new.

 

Yeah I hate that propriatary crap. On dads Sol I had to use a dremel with a cutting wheel to cut them off the posts, then the replacement ones (Which you CAN get at auto stores or Rock) just snapped back in, or had a lil clip or something. (it was like 5 yrs ago lol)

Anyway, good luck, and the LB rating should only be like 10-15lbs ea? that roof and rack can't weigh a lot, plus using the pivot as a lever takes some off too.

What I'd like to do is get some for the hood! I'd just need to weld in some tabs to hold them, just not sure when I'll ever get around to it.

 

I ended up cutting the studs off and using a universal strut, and a bolt in ball post. Worked fine. The oem looked like a ball & socket wouldn't have the range, but it worked just fine. Thanks everyone for the support.

 

Good to know, do you have the specs on the universal struts or did they fit your above measurements?

 

I do, They were strong arm universal lift supports.

4517 ~60lbs of lift
4683 ~75lbs
4518 ~100lbs

I went with the 4683 from amazon, and they're actually a little too strong, but should last forever. And also used PN SA3000 ball stud mounts. works like a charm.

I found the sachs replacements for the del sol's trunk and they come with new ball attachments. I found them for cheap at rockauto..
