How to clean EGR on 1998 Accord
Hello everyone
I have been doing tons of research on cleaning my EGR. Watched lots of Youtube videos.,. however, when I took mine off, it is an electronic NOT vaccumn EGR. I cannot get the plunger to go up and down to clean the mating surface of the EGR, unlike a manual one.
The center of the plunger, looking at the unit upside down, has a allen wrench. I cannot push this plunger to clean it.
Just leave it? Advise? Nothing on the youtube or this forum I can find relating to cleaning electronic EGR with a plunger that does not go up or down.
the works fine, just doing some cleaning.
thank you

Unless the EGR valve has failed it rarely ever needs to be cleaned.
Common areas of clogging is in the main feed port.
On the 2.3 you will remove the upper plenum of the intake manifold and clear the port feeding into the plenum.
On the 3.0 you will remove the upper plenum of the intake manifold and clear the main port that feeds between the upper and lower intake.
