Life span of Kuhmos? where to buy cheap?
So....how many HPDEs could I get out of a set of V700s if I take care and rotate and remount them accordingly. I got 7 events out of my YOSLOWHAMA A032Rs.....any thoughts?
Also where is the best ( read cheapest ) source for them.
thanks again!!!!!!

Useable life or competitive life?
Kumho V700 Victoracers are competitive for about 15-20 heat cycles (or 3-4 weekends).
But they have enough tread to last MUCH longer. Probably more like 8 track events.
And once they get hard (after 4-6 months or so), they wear very well. But also tend to slide a lot (actually quite good for learning on).
[edit]All the above assumes you don't care about tread for the rain. Also, buy the tires shaved, they actually last about the same amount of time (the extra heat from the tread squirm on unshaved seems to make them wear fast the first fw sessions).

Usable life.......most/all of my time is spent either playing in the instructor group, or giving rides to students.....so I am just out there to learn and have fun
thanks for the input......do you buy yours at the tire rack?

I got 13 HPDE days on my last set of Victoracers (from new to cord). This was with careful rotating and remounting. Some of the HPDE "days" were quite long (4 runs x 40 minutes). Wear was pretty even.
Check local dealers for price then compare to mail order. You might be surprised.
When price shopping don't forget to figure in all costs for an equitable comparison (shipping, mounting, your time, etc.).

maybe i got lucky... plus having a light car helps.
I got 20 Autocross events with an average of 10 runs each event.
plus 5 open track events with 3 sessions at 15mins each (close to 4hrs of track time)
I rotating them religiously...never flipped them. They are still stickier than a basic street tyre.

Remember, I am racing on the Kumhos, so the wear might be slightly accelerated compared to HPDE use. I've given away tires that have lasted the new owners quite a few autocrosses.

Let's see... I've just finished my second season on a set of 205-55-14 V700s. That's about 60-70 Auto-x runs and 2 track days of about 8 sessions of 20-25 minutes each and about 2,000 street miles driving to/from events. The tires still have a little less than half the tread left... The grip is definetely not the same anymore but acceptable, far better than any street tire.
It looks like at this point these tires will last forever. I'll probably just keep them for lapping days and get some Toyos next year...

but, if you are racing in a national event or are racing for money... i'd run on hoosiers or a full race tyre.
