Most reliable accord
Who here has had the most reliable Accord? Aside from the typical problems they have. About 99.9% of threads here are about issues they have with their Accord, which is fine, but I wanted to hear stories of how reliable your Accord has been or was to you. A pic doesn't hurt either, although I know it's not a picture thread.
Well my 96' was still running tip top when I took it off the road to build it up for track use. Just over 250k km on it, never burnt a drop of oil and the cylinder walls still had the factory cross hatching. Still kicking myself in the **** for ever taking it off the road.
For the 8 years I had it on the road I never had any issues that were out of the ordinary. Only once did it leave me stranded and that was when the ignitor failed. Fortunately, I was well versed in Honda's regular issues. I was able to quickly diagnose it and had her back on the road within 2 hrs.
How it looked when I took it off the road

all the brownish yellow crap in the engine bay is a wax undercoating. I am so greatfull the previous owner spent the extra cash for this. Made the tear down so much easier, not much rust on her.
How it looks now

She's a work in progress...... extended version!

I've only owned my Accord a little over 3yrs now but even at 193k miles there was NEVER a time that car didn't start and run like a beast for me. And granted the rings were going, so it smoked on very cold morning starts, and over 5000rpm, so it burned quite a bit of oil but I drove it like I hated it man! And it always ran solid. So far in my experience it's been the most dependable (older car) I've ever owned. I even had my starter crap the bed, due to some wiring issues, and since she's a 5spd I just rolled her off the driveway and pop started it np! I guess what I'm trying to say is even with the issues it did have it NEVER left me stuck. And that's a whole lot more than I can say for a lot of other cars I've owned and or been in.
This is all anecdotal, but:
86-89 Accords with the cast iron 2.0 liter were beasts, friend had one that went to 492,000 miles even when overheated twice, finally was taken off the road when it got hit from behind. Although carburetors from this era of Accord were problematic and hard to service. The EFI version is the most reliable. I still see a lot of these on the road.
The only thing bad about the 90-97 Accords were the main relays failing but this is an easy and cheap repair. Otherwise, all my research shows that the drivetrains are about as reliable and well designed as any vehicle of any era. My dad bought his 93 brand new and we gave it to a friend at 212,000 - literally still felt new inside and out. 2.2 DX with automatic. I've only had my 92 EX for less than a year but so far so good. It stood up to a track weekend (with more to come)..

My first car was a 94 Accord LX sedan 5 speed. That car when I got it had 33x,xxx miles. I drove it hard for two years until I sold it. I was impressed. Only HAD to changed the master slave cylinder but should have changed other things such as a VC gasket. The plugs we're always soaked in oil and well honestly it never affected the performance. I wish I hadn't sold it.
94-97 with 96/97 only edging out as the OBDII diagnostics makes everything so much easier to diagnose/fix. On AT cars just make sure to change out the ATF every 50K miles if you are lazy bastard. Otherwise those ATs will last 200Kmiles without ever doing anything to them.

I vote any CB7. I've owned 5 starting with "The Dirty Green Honda" that my grandma still owns and passes around the family as needed. Its odometer stopped some 5 or 6 years ago with 384k on it and its still driving at least twice a week. All my other ones have been super solid, I've never had to deal with many wiring quirks except the occasional radio that needed a fonz fix to make a speaker pop back on. My current one has gone over a lot of this country and has been reliable enough to get my and my dog to the shows every night on tour.

hmm???
Aaaaayyyyyyy!!!
Brother-in-law has a CB7 with close to 400k. I brought it back from the dead once. He drove it into the ground and I replaced the brakes he destroyed, one axle, a couple tires, dropped the pan and cleaned out the engine that hadn't had an oil change in easily 20k+. Full of sludge and garbage. Had a rod knock. Cleared right up after. Still running and delivery Pizzas in it to this day. That was mostly just neglect on his part. Car never wanted anything more than basic maintenance.
Mother has a 95 with 315k. Aside from basic maintenance it's been absolutely perfect.
Brothers ex-wife has a 94 with 450k on it as well. Original engine and trans. Motor has a small crack in the block casting and leaks some oil but other than maintenance stuff it's been great to her.
Brother had a 95 coupe. 5 speed. Sold it with 250k+ on it. Still ran like new aside from some minor body issues due to a walnut tree outside their house.
Sister just bought a '00 sedan with 170k. Basically mint aside from some paint fade. I expect it to be around for a loooooooong time.
My 95 has 213k on it. But that's another story for another day.
We love our Accords.

Then if you get one with the EFI and a manual trans.....the only way one of these will die is because of driver/owner error (accident, lack of normal maintenance).
Love the little guys and still have one in the driveway
