Default 97 Civic LX - idle issue

I have an issue with my 97 Honda Civic, when idling the Rpms fluctuate up and down about 1000 and when driving it seems to try and stall on its own and the temperature gauge has stopped working. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Stock Civic? What trim?

Pull the CEL codes and post them.

p1500 and p0140 are not Civic codes. Double check them.

p0500 --> Does the speedometer work?

Reset the ECU to see whether any of the codes return.

The speedometer does work. I just replaced the sensor not too long ago. I resent the eve and the sel went away but the Rpms are still fluctuating

Look for a vacuum or intake air leak. Either of these should throw code P0505.

Make a list of everything you've done to the car so far.

I changed the speed sensor iacv clutch master/slave cylinder and took out the cruise control. But yesterday when I changed the iacv I realized it doesn't have Egr in it

Only the 97 Civic HX would have an EGR system.

Post pics. What's the block code? It should be D16Y7, if stock.

A/C drain hose.

That's the head code. What's the block code?

The car seems to have the stock engine - no EGR system. The D16Y5 engine has the EGR system.

Then what are the two hoses on the third picture? They're down kinda underneath the battery

Let's see the other end of that hose dangling in the first photo.
Where does it connect to?
Is your car missing the evap canistor?

I'm pretty sure both are the A/C drain hose in the last picture.

Have u try spraying carb cleaner around the manifold to look for a leak? Engine should be cold while u do this, risk of fire.
Then try the smoke method, see if u can spot any leak.

On the intake manifold, port where your brake booster line hook into.
Use CIG or cigar if u d9nt have a smoke machine. Pretty easy, there are couple YouTube vids on how to do it.
