Drag Racing Running Skinnies in the Rear can there be a Negative to them?
I am curious if anyone thinks/feels there is a Negative to running skinnies in the rear in a drag racing application?
As far as aerodynamics goes, amount of tire patch needed to prevent side to side shake or lost of control in the back end... just curious if anyone has ever actually thought about this.

I would think if aerodynamics were really a concern (they could be, I don't have a way of accurately testing) that covering the wheel wells like land speed cars would be much more beneficial than adding rolling resistance.
It makes a difference in stability of the car. The rear end becomes significantly lighter which in return changes the breaking feel and stability if you get out of the grove or hit a bump on the track. If you run them on the street at all make damn sure you don't mix Bias Ply with Radials or you will be in for one hell of a ride when it gets out of control.
