Hi,
The Power seat on the driver side has stopped moving front or back. All the other motions work (Up Down, Rear Seat incline etc). It just does not move front or back. I was moving it back/front without the key in the ignition and I thought it would start working if I put it back and it does not.
So the question to the experts is that is there a manual override for the same. Troubleshooting/repair suggestions on what could be causing the problem is much appreciated.

Well, you would want to test the "front/back motor fist and be sure it is working....if not, well there is a problem. If it is, the why is it not getting power via the switch?

 

@poorman212 When I try the switch, nothing happens when I try to move it back whereas when I try to move it forward, I hear a slight whirring noise and a slight movement forward.
Can I test continuity without removing the seat?

You can test the driver's seat slide motor by disconnecting the 12P gray connector from the driver's power seat switch.

To test if slide motor goes forward (only do so briefly to not damage the motor if it works):
Connect a jumper wire (spare piece of wire) between terminal no. 7 (yellow wire) and terminal no. 4 (blk wire).
Connect another jumper wire between terminal no. 11 (Blu/Yel wire) and terminal no. 8 (Wht/Blu wire).

To test if slide motor goes backward:
Connect a jumper wire between terminal no. 11 (Blu/Yel wire) and terminal no. 4 (blk wire).
Connect another jumper wire between terminal no. 7 (Yel wire) and terminal no. 8 (Wht/Blu wire).

The above is done with the harness connector unplugged from the switch and jumped on the harness side.

The seat does go up down, tilt up and down. I could not figure out how to to remove the switch cover(details not present in the Haynes Repair manual) to troubleshoot using a jumper wire.
Will give it a shot tomorrow morning.

 

Checked the fuse box under the steering column and found that it was fine.
Update from my side is that I got a little frustrated and tried to push the seat back with all my might while pushing the switch back. It only gave in a little. I sprayed WD40 on the 2 rails (both front and back). Managed to move the seat back all the way (with the key in the ignition).
Surprising part was the fact that the seat now moves front and back! Weird solution but worked for me.

 

Well, take the small victories

You might think about using a different lube on the tracks. Wd40 is good for some items but over time you might need something a little better.

 

@poorman212 I gotcha. I guess I could use one I use for doors (White Lithium Grease) on the rails the next time.

 

most likely a bad motor or ground, check if there is power to the motor and make sure the seat is on the tracks
