Default EJ2 - Engine bay work

Hey everyone :) I'm trying to clean up my engine bay with a wire tuck and I need some help on how I can go about doing that.
First of all I want to build my EJ2 as a show car for now and then I want to start working on the motor for racing.
I don't have time to do it all at once but when I don't have work I can get a lot done.
What I know so far is that you'd have to drill some holes to gain access to under the fender and I would like to know where those spots will be at.
I'm new at doing things on my own so please don't be too harsh on the opinions.

If there's a forum already up about this topic please post the link.
Thank you

It'd be alot easier to do if you wait until you swap or have engine out the car.

Damn, then I guess I have to save it for a later time.

I have another question about my window visors. They're after market until I can get the OEM ones and they're being held on by double sided tape and the end by the side mirrors aren't staying on, would I be able to use a heat gun to warp them? same thing with my rear window visor..

The bay would look a lot cleaner if you just cleaned it.
The paint looks good under all that dirt, a good scrub will make it look a lot cleaner without actually tucking anything.
Maybe black VC and exhaust shield to freshen things up.

Your window visor is not held in place because the tape failed or the aftermarket fitment is off?
You could warm it with a heat gun and carefully bend it to fit your car, or try some new tape.

GL.

I 2nd a good cleaning and degreasing (dont forget bottom side of the hood)
Paint heat shield and valve cover and battery tie down
You could find covers for your Brake MC and Clutch
Do something with the ziptied spark plug wires lol (maybe source the stock clip)
Some wires like grounds can be easily relocated to for a cleaner look

and the bay will look 10x better for next to free

For the visor i would try the heat gun worst that can happen is you warp it too much and need a new one (which you are buying anyway) just watch getting the paint too hot.

The first time I used the tape that came with it then I tried doubling the tape with 3M double adhesive tape and it still wouldn't stick so I'll try the heat gun.

As for the cleaning, is there a certain product I should use or can I just use regular soap and water?

You can mix some simple green and some water and spray the enfine down with that.
Cover your alternator and distributor with some bags first.
After you spray the simple green use a brush to scrub the dirt off and rinse with a hose.

As mentioned, best done with engine out, although planning should be done first, like locating wiring harness routs out of the engine bay and into the cab, removing fenders and kick panels is a must, even better if you pull the cash and always better when tuck done all at once.

If you want to be ****, pull an engine/engine bay harness from a bone yard wreck, having the correct gauge/color/tracer leads to extend existing ones is a very good idea, makes for neater job and much less chance of miss wiring and as always solder and shrink-tube electrical connections.

Not a job that can be done properly in bits and pieces. 94

+1 for the Simple Green idea. Great product. For the more tough grime on your engine, you can grab a can of engine degreaser.

How diluted should I make it?
I bought a jug of it today and I'm going to clean it in the morning before it gets too hot

Not sure.
Fill up a spray bottle 1/4 of simple green and 1/4 of water(50/50-1/2 the bottle only)
Then try the 50/50 mix and if it's not working that well add some more simple green or water accordingly.

car washes usually have a wheel cleaner setting, that stuff works great on bays.

looks much better now, even without removing anything!

Always good to wipe the 710 cap, someone could think it says OIL and start up an argument.

Joking, hope you are too. It says "OIL" not 710. Hehe.

Lmao, of course it's a joke ! I just can't believe someone said that and was serious about it smh
But it really does look a lot better. There are some spots where it just won't be completely clean, like it's stained with oil or something. Look at where the right strut tower compared to the left, but that's not really a big deal since I'll be painting it soon.
