Default 91 civic hatch b16 swap ?

Car was swapped years ago. Had issues later on with it. Car sat for a year or so. Just got it back running.

All the sudden car will sputter out sometimes. Right before I hit VTEC the car will bog down. Not throwing any new codes. Only code is 9 which has been there for a while.

Car drives fine under 60, any VTEC engagement and car will fall out or die down.

Looking for any input. Don't want to get stranded...

I would address the code 9 first then go from there. Code is for the Cylinder Position Sensor in the distributor. Typically the only way to fix that is to replace the distributor. The only other thing causing it would be frayed/corroded wires coming from it. I'd inspect those first then a new distributor is your next option.

unless like you said the code 9 has been on it may be timing or just bad wiring due to swap. current issue sounds like it is more of a problem somewhere with the v tec set up. check that out too.

Code 9 had been happening since day one. I swapped dist. and still same codes.

I took the cap off the dist. and found a loose terminal and one of the connectors to the ICM was loose as well. It required a washer/spacer on the loose black/yellow wire in dist. and I had to crimp the Male/female ICM connector a little tight as it was loose.

After that the car did start right up.

I am actually thinking of selling the car now that it runs.
