Learn about your car and save up until you know exactly what you wanna do, it saves you time, money and frustration in the long run. Anyways, Rs are great Stock and even better modded.
Depending on what you do, it will void warranties. If you do something like install a VAFC and then have some kind of electrical problem after that, even if it is like 2 months later, the dealership will do their best to blame it on the VAFC, because of the wire spliting and what not. Even if you get a non-factory alarm, I have been told by the dealership, that will void the electrical warranty. I am assuming it is like that with pretty much everything you do. Some things you do to the car may be easier to cover up though.
bolt ons like ....header , intake and exhaust are fine .....but once you start doing cams...or internals ..you better beleive they'll void your warranty if its the cause of the problem

Leave it stock....
but if you do decide to do mods, DO NOT settle for the cheap shiet. that means no weapon R, apc, or other shiet like that.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT GUYS... MUCH APPRECIATED...
SO FAR, I ONLY INSTALLED AN EXHAUST AND COLD AIR INTAKE...
i spoke to a local honda specialist... he suggested - quad throttle, head work (porting, 5 deg angle, adjustable cams) and a new ecu would be the way to go if i wanna keep my car naturally aspirated...
has anyone done the same mods???
can anyone see a problem with this set up???

G'day filo.
Change your sig to 02 DC5R. That way you won't confuse them. It may have been built and complied in 2001 but it's still a 2002 model.
I went through the exact same phase as you did. Being paranoid about insurance and modifications.
It all comes down to this, while you sometimes MAY get them to fix your car up. Should any problems occur, modifications certainly complicates the issue a hell of alot more. Honda Australia is excruciatingly tightarse when it comes to honouring warranty and any form of modification will give them plenty of excuses for not helping you if that day ever arises.
Know what you want from your car before you go about modding it, have you been to a driving course yet? Try finlays or something, there are so many in Sydney. And i beleive that a FREE Honda sponsored track day for NSW HSCC is/was on this month.. there are no excuses! (but i'm in a rural area so i don't count
)
Ohh and best advice, stick around Honda-Tech and you'll eventually learn everything you need to know about getting the most out of your Type R
