S300 basemap from phearable very rich idle

Hey guys.
I have a b18b that has a built bottom end and now has 11:1 compression. I ordered s300 from phearable with a basemap for my engine specs. Got s300 back from them yesterday and hooked everything up. Fired up the engine and it idles like total crap and my wideband is almost maxed out in the rich position. Just to rule out a possible failure with the engine/wiring and or wideband, I plugged in a factory ecu and the engine runs perfect with good afr's at idle. (13.5-14.7) I find it hard to believe that the basemap is that poor coming from phearable. Is there something that they may have missed when setting up the basemap? I'm very mechanically inclined but no very little about tuning. Looking for any suggestions from experienced s300 users.

Try and tune it? You're not going to blow it up at idle. Have you set the base timing and everything else correctly?
Most importantly, what did Phearable say about it?

Did you order a premium map or just a base? From what I have seen most of their basic basemaps are rather rich. Either way you should be contacting Phearable.net first... he is pretty good about returning calls/e-mails.

It is supposed to be a premium map. I did contact phearable about the issue, waiting for a response. I was just asking if there is something obvious that I can look for in the parameters on smanager or something. Target afrs are all 14.7 for the first 6 columns. injectors are rated at 240cc in the map. I did not adjust my timing yet but the engine seems to run ok on the factory map...so I doubt the timing would cause all of this. I'm going to time the engine this weekend and set to 16 degrees to rule that out.
wait what? theres a basic and premium basemap now?
lol does premium come with snake oil additive for your motor?
timing would cause some issues if the base timing in basemap is different from actual timing on the motor
it can damage his wideband sensor especially if hes using MTX-L if the afr fluctuation is too wide and too fast.
if you have a wideband and S300 why not street tune the fuel maps yourself I hope you don't expect a basemap to run same as stock ecu.

If you did some research you would find the basic basemap is just that, a file set up for your specific setup (ie: injectors, map sensor, etc).
A premium map is multiple dyno tunes overlayed, averaged, and adjusted for your setup. This of course assumes you don't have some crazy setup and it's been done before.
Anyone who relies on a basemap to drive around isn't that bright anyways.

basemaps are almost always set up to hopefully be a little on the rich side, so any variances plus or minus will cause it to go to a good afr, or slightly richer than a little rich, but rarely pig rich or lean enough to cause damage.
as said above, contacting phearable should be the main thing you do, especially if you paid extra for the basemap. he will help correct it for you.
if you're on stock injectors, it should be a simple fix for the most part. I do not suggest trying to tune it yourself if you don't have a vast knowledge of tuning hondas, especially with s300 having so many different parameters over a more basic system.

shouldn't a basemap be as close as you can get to the motor you have anyway?
why purposely make a crappy "basic base map" and then offer "luxury" extra, super, more accurate basemap...
seems like just milking a customer for extra dollar...
maybe that's why all retail stores hate DIY people because you cant sell us on "platinum" options like regular customers.
I mean best buy has customer grading system by how stupid they are... and how to work each customer group to get them to buy something..

I worked in retail for 10 years. and quit. I know exactly how it is
I quit because I refused to sell bullsht upgrades to customers.
and the store didn't like it they kept pushing me to do it.
but customers did and they followed me through 3 different shops
cant wait to go to sema this year... I probably gonna get banned for asking questions they don't want to answer

Exactly motoxxxman!
As I said above, and already explained what the differences were in phearable.net's basemaps. I know I sure as hell wouldn't be taking time overlaying dyno runs for $20 for the basic map. It's a whopping $40 for a premium map when you buy a unit. You guys need to get real. If you can do it cheaper and better, then go ahead and do it yourself - because Capitalism.
If you truly do it yourself, then you should know how long it takes to make a decent basemap. It isn't just a couple minutes setting injector size and map sensor like most people do. Things are a little different if the customer is buying a dyno tune though, but this just isn't the case. How many times has a customer said I have parts A, B, C, D only to find out they had X, C, Y, K, M, S? I would be willing to bet a lot of people don't have a clue what they have or what they are doing, and is why they need a basemap to begin with.
It's $75 for a map without buying a unit and you get his awesome customer service, he is helping the OP. I am absolutely not nut riding here either as I actually had a problem with them and never brought it up until a year later and posted about it here in the forums. Guess what, John made it right even a year later!
You can't beat his customer service. He didn't know me from a hole in the ground, but still made it right well out of his window of liability. The amount of time he spends on the phone with even potential customers and doesn't even make a sale is unreal. I know I wouldn't do it, I HATE time wasters.
You don't get his level of customer service with almost ANY venders on here. I am not going to name names, but I have personally made many phone calls to TONS of venders I have purchased from on here, and most of them are know it all snobs IF they even help you to begin with.

PS - I absolutely have zero ties to ANY vender on this board. I have only bought from phearable.net maybe 4 or 5 times, but they were all large purchases.
