Hi, this is quite far down the road but planning to have a shop build a s2k motor and wanted to do the swap myself (not the building part). Was wondering if the ECU will need to be modified in any way to run 9:1 compression or if that is unaffected. Eventually would swap into a AEM standalone, but wondering if you could just plug the stock one in at least to start the new motor and drive it around.

 

so you're going to lower the compression? for forced induction?

 

Yeah the plan is to get the motor built first and then get a turbo on there eventually, however since I can't do any welding work I'd like to get the motor out and in myself, and be able to drive it to a shop to have them put the turbo kit on. Was wondering how folks have started up their cars after a newer built motor, or if that's even possible with the stock ECU considering the compression is different

 

1. No need for that low of compression. Setup will be laggy and unresponsive compared to a 11.0:1 stock F20/F22C. If you want more power on pump I would stick to 10.0:1 at minimum... In all reality you don't need to build your motor to handle any power you will throw at it.

2. Yes you will need an aftermarket computer. AEM V2 EMS, AEM 506 Infinity w/adapter harness, haltech pro plug-in, haltech sport 2000, or Hondata K-pro will all work great. And in all reality you should have a stand alone ecu long before you need to build your motor.

Good lawd, dam butterflies! you must like to make your knuckles bleed. Go ahead get a motor built by the time it gets to you for real you should have a standalone. Lol. You wanna kno how we do it... well if your real smart you can tune on your own and dont need no one. BUT if your not and you are mechanically inclined you READ alot! Lol build it, get it built whatever, while its getting built; better already have all supporting mods or work on getting them while they are trying to fulfill your order and 30 other builds (if your gettin a good build) you think your the only one?

Where did you get 9:1 from?; butterfly anyways to actually answer your question Yes you could throw a BUILT 9:1 in there and it will run on stock ecu guarantee, will you be moving slower then a turtle while driving; indefinitely Lol. GL!

Just out of plane curiosity what shop and what they quote you? did they tell you to run 9:1cr?
