94 DX Coup - broken timing belt
hello,
94 Dx 2dr automatic. I think this is an ej civic Vin #2hgej2224rh502159
I have had my timing belt break, and I have been putting a list of parts to order before tearing into this project.
apparently there are 2 possible choices for replacement water pumps and I don't know how to determine witch pump I need to order. Can anyone help me figure out witch one ?
also I would appreciate it if someone would tell me about the starter trick to loosen the main engine pulley, it's something I seem to remember but cant find the details now. Another thing that is driving me a little crazy is there there seem to be 3 different automatic transmission's on this model year and that has something to do with what belts I need to order.
this is disjointed.. ok let me tell you what I plan to do.
I really don't want to do this again so I am replacing the timing, alternator, power steering and AC compressor belts. I also want to replace the timing belt tensioner and water pump.
thank you for any help or information.

What would that entail ? pulling the head off and inspecting the pistons /valves ? pulling the head looks easy enough just a few bolts and a rubber mallet. or do I need to pull the exhaust and intake off before the head. OR something elce ?
Get a timing belt from a parts store thst you can return, the cheapest one lol.
Clean the oil pump face, crank gear and cam gear all of that side of the engine. Time it. See if it spins. Do a compression test.
If it passes all of that you should be good to go on doing everything right.
Also, look on the engine next to the exhaust manifold. There's a lil square that has a number written on it. What is that number? D15b7?

yes it's a d15b7 and I found out 2day that the reason for the 2 part numbers for the water pump, the pump is interchangeable but the manufacturer is diffrent and the $$ is diffrent dep on witch one you get. the guy at the honda dealer would not tell me the manufacturers names tho.
