CAI Question
Honda Civic Si - 1990 - 2 Door Hatchback
My current cold air intake hangs in front of the passenger side front tire. The air filter is dirty and worn out. I'm looking to find either a air filter cone replacement or complete pipe set up. But, I am not really sure where to look to get the best deal and correct fitment, e.g. maf sensor, mounting, brackets. Also, i've noticed another setup where the cai sits in the engine bay, what is the difference?
Thanks

You don't have a MAF sensor. Is the piping two or one piece? If two piece disconnect the lower piece and move the filter up. You can also cut the one piece and relocate the filter.
Intakes with the filter next to the battery are considered short ram's. When the filter is behind the bumper it is considered a CAI or cold air intake.
Where are you located? Any speed shops near by should have filters available.

There are some CAIs, like my PRM, that have the filter in the engine bay, and then a tube from the open end of the filter down and out through the stock tunnel. Just two versions of the same thing. As Bently said, if it's still sucking air in from the engine bay, it's not a CAI.
K&N sells a generic cone that you could get to replace your current one. But if you're looking for a new assembly, any CAI will do. What you really have to make sure of is how close to the battery the assembly is. Some CAIs are too close to the terminals, IMHO. Of course, you could always relocate the battery (mine is in the hatch) and avoid the problem altogether.
