Icon4 eBay: 1998 Acura Integra Type R (98-0910)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Acura-...23639]

Anyone else saw this car for sale on Craigslist a few weeks ago? I contacted the owner an hour after it posted for sale at night and it sold early in the morning. He had it posted for $7,000. Someone picked it up and is selling it for $18,500 on eBay now. Lol.

It's listed on Craigslist for 16k. It's annoying as hell when ppl try to flip these cars for a stupid profit. Hope it never sells.

When I first saw the ad I was hoping it was gonna be a mint low mileage, but then found it has 166k miles. Doesn't make sense.

That price and the guy didn't even bother to clean it up. Headlights are all clouded, the paint is really dull looking, dirt in the doorjambs, etc.

And based on the CL listing pictures, he has it parked in the street. This jackass will be lucky if it doesn't get stolen before it sells.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on why these type Rs hold their value so well? Have they always?

Limited production numbers, factory-produced hot rod with a ton of unique parts, fantastic driving experience.

Also: boatloads have been raced/wrecked/stolen/stripped, so the stock of clean cars is relatively small.

And for some, nostalgia.

Right, I knew I was forgetting something. Kids/teens of the R's heyday are finally established enough to spend some cash on the car they always wanted. Kind of like the muscle car boom in the early 00s.

i have been saying for over 10 years that the Type R will become the "Shelby" of the Y2k era .. slowly as they are wrecked, stolen, modified beyond the point of no return the clean unmolested cars will increase in value. i believe we hit the bottom of the market about 2 years ago and in the next few years the price will grow out of reach for a lot of buyers. there are some deals out there right now, but the good ones you will have to pay top dollar for and though they may seem overpriced today in the future they will be considered a good deal

I swear there was a thread a few years back with people debating whether or not the ITR will gain in value. I think I'll resurrect it to see what the naysayers have to say now. BRB...

I like how you explained that thanks.

I wonder though if there is some limit to to value of Hondas. Consider when Jay Leno did his video on the s600. He said if it had a Porsche badge on it it'd be worth 6 figures. I'll find the video, but I think he makes a good point. Still, cars like Nsx and itr are very special.

I believe you are correct!! I have always wanted one and the prices have been going up and up the bast few years. Lucky for me I was able to pick one up a few weeks ago. Although it is prepped for the track its one owner and super low KM.

I did!! Not mentioned in the add was the noisy engine. I hope I got lucky and only have to replace the two broken cam gears. The engine was built but apparently the person that built it does not know how to use a torque wrench.
Hope to have it on track next weekend to sort out the rest.
