I have a 1995 Civic dx and I cant figure out what it is doing. I changed the head gasket a few months back and it has been acting up since. It will start right up and run fine until it warms up. After that it starts idiling crazy. It will bounce back and forth from 1000-2000 rpm over and over. If you cut it off aafter driving it, it won't start back immeaditly. You let it sit there for like 30 mins and it will start right back up. I'm lost. Could it be a O2 sensor or something else. Thanks in advanced.

Vaccum hose? Any somewhat loud hissing under there?

 

no not that I can hear but the car is loud as hell. Is there any other way to find a vacume leak other than listening

why was the head gasket replaced to begin with?
did it overheat?
Prior to the new head gasket being installed, did you resurface the head?
Where the bolts torqued down to specs after install?
Any leaks around where the head and block meet?
