8th Gen Si: Shifting Issues. Plz Help Asap!
2007 honda civic si, 118,000 miles. Went to the honda dealership to get an oil change. 5 minutes after i left i had trouble shifting. It was hard to go into and out of 1st gear. And also reverse. Doesnt happen every single time i shift but does happen occasionally. Please help i have no idea.
If it was shifting fine before you got an oil change maybe bring it back to them... I don't know why you didn't go back right away to have them check it out?
It could be so many things that it's impossible to narrow it down... something could be blocking the shifter cables or they did something who knows.

I had to rush to work.. I really wanted to go back but i couldnt. Im gonna go now. I'll let you know what it is
They said the clutch wasn't fully releasing, so it made it hard to change gears properly. So they estimated a clutch, pressure plate (idk what that is) and labor for $1700 lol. Online i found a exedy oem clutch for $130 and currently looking a mechanic to install it. Do you think they're right? Could the clutch cause that issue?

actually if the clutch isn't releasing completely which makes sense why it would be a little difficult.
although that doesn't necessarily mean the clutch is toast!
I think I know what the issue is but before jumping to conclusion can you do a small test for me when you are out driving. Get on the highway and drive up to about 60 mph and keep her in 6th. Coast for a few seconds at 60mph and then go WOT (wide open throttle) in 6th. See if your speed changes or if you see the RPMs going hire and the speed struggling to go up a little.
This will see if the clutch is still good. If the RPMs go up and the speed struggles you need a new clutch (pressure plate comes with it usually).
If not let me know here and I'll post something up for you (going to find it) and it's what solved my problem.
