Icon5 5 speed manual Tranny swap from 94 del sol to 94 civic ex

Hello everyone,

I need some help please.

I have a functional 94 del sol 5 speed manual transmission (A000 series) that I want to put it into a 94 civic ex with a B series 5 speed manual transmission (my first gear is grinding). Is this a doable swap?

Thanks,

Les

Are you asking whether you can mate a B-series engine with a D-series transmission?

I was hoping that I could replace my existing tranny on my civic ex 1.6, which the first gear is starting to grind and my clutch just went out, with a tranny from my del sol 1.5 to save from buying another tranny. The del sol tranny is a left over from my daughter's crashed del sol. The clutch is the same on both trannys. But, I didn't know if there would be any complications with the bolt pattern or any tranny support parts.

Since you're not answering it directly if you are attempting to bolt on a D transmission to a B engine (or vice verse) it will not work without spending money on an adapter plate setup (very costly).

Thank you for your response.

My engine on the civic ex is a D16Z6 with a 5 speed manual transmission, series no. S20 B000.

The del sol engine is a D15B7 with a 5 speed manual transmission, series no. S20 A000

The clutch sizes are identical.

So my question is: will the del sol tansmission from a 1.5 engine fit on a civic ex 1.6 engine?

Both are D series engines,

trannys are:
del sol A000 series
civic EX B000 series

I believe the swap will work, but the gearing of the two transmissions is different. The EX transmission is the best match for the D16Z6.

D series tranny will not bolt up to the B series block...unless you go spending some money on a D2B kit...which it will be pointless

Yes it will work, but the gearing will longer.

Your title is misleading than. THE ANSWER IS NO its not possible to do a straight replacement.

The title isn't misleading but some of the first post is. What the OP wants to do is very doable. He does not have a B-series transmission, what he's been referring to as a B-series transmission is an EX/Si D-series B000 (Big Bearing) transmission which I'm surprised no one seems to be picking up on.
