Default civic ef hatch b16 cranking noise

Just got my car battery up to voltage and installed a new IAC sensor. Cat would not even run let alone idle sensor was so far gone.

The car does start now which is awesome. So many issues I had. Back to running.

The thing is when I start or go to crank it sounds like something is rubbing inside, possibly the flywheel? A bolt? Something makes a rotational noise at a certain point of cranking over. Will turn over then make the noise. When I think of this, I picture something like a bolt making contact with something but can't verify.

Almost like a kink or klack. Rotates around than you hear a kink,........kink. Never seemed to do it before. I'm not sure where to start. Starting to think the noise could be something else. Don't want to think that tho.

Noise is on pass. Side. Like mention on starting it hangs up. I don't want to start taking stuff apart.

Anyone ever experience this condition or ever find anything ? Looking for tips/advise thanks

OK, no imput???

After digging into it a bit. I think it could be the starter cooked. I just got a new unit from local pep boys.

My engine is a b16 integra xsi swap. I told them at counter to look up parts for a 1995 del Sol VTEC. I always thought the two cross referenced parts?

Here the ears on the starter the tabs to mount it are slightly smaller.

Does anyone know a b16 starter part # or anything?

The cover plate on the bottom could be rubbing on the flywheel, that is if that part is like on the D16. This will tend to make noise only when the clutch is pressed in, since pressing the clutch pushes the crankshaft into the engine slightly.

Turned out starter was bad. Got one finally.

Started but now won't run long. Seem like its the alternator now. Will know more in am. I had a real real hard time removing the alternator and getting it out.

SO I thought all the starter and alternator were bad and replaced both. Replaced other stuff as well.

Had a final thought the distributor was out or something. Used a old back up and what the EF!

Car started right up, no crank noise or clack. Idled for about a half hour and just let it warm up.
