Sup guys and gals
I recently purchased a 2007 Civic EX 5sp manual. This is my first ever Honda as I have came from a 91 Lexus LS400 and then a Lexus IS300, which I still currently own and now this Civic.
Its a bit of a down grade but I have always loved the em1 platforms. I guess you can call me a pit baby because I grew up in the pits at the race track as a child. My dad ran muscle cars
in the NHRA for many years. He was a true Mopar nut and is very well known locally for his skills. My brother was a big JDM nut so I guess i can say that i grew up in the best of both worlds,
true raw horsepower from muscle cars and the sweet fine tuning of a JDM platform.
I work for a well known parts store by day and flip chicken by night. Unfortunately the parts store I work for is mainly a Chevy store, high performance parts are the norm. If you have something
other than a Honda and are looking to do a LSx swap, then the store I work for is definitely your toy store.
I just purchased this civic a few weeks ago, I bought it salvaged from a buddy of mine with 80k miles for 4500. I pray to god that it doesnt have the dreaded block crack issue! Being that it
is a salvaged title, the dealer obviously wont warranty the defect from the manufacturer, which I think is complete BS! How can a manufacturer defect, let a lone an ENGINE BLOCK, the most important
part of ANY vehicle, besides the cooling system, not be covered? I get it, salvaged, maybe the block cracked from being hit, yes I get it, but come on, wheres the class action lawsuit? LOL anyway....
Coming from a Lexus platform, I must say, its very different. The civic rides shitty, not smooth at all, that is until I change out my stock suspension with more than likely tein coilovers. Wont ride as
nice as my IS300, but hey its a Civic, I got what I paid for, right? Parts are cheap and with the R18, companies have had numerous years to manufacturer parts for it to make my butt dyno happy.
This is just going to be a daily driver so I wont be doing anything crazy, as was my IS300.
Basic plans are more than likely the same as anyone else. Intake, coilovers, wheels, maybe an exhaust, few performance mods and that should be about it.

That's a nice ride .... it should be a lot of fun.
Did your Dad race at Fremont? I'm also originally from the Bay Area and used to hang out there as a teen (late 60's, early 70's). I even ran my '67 Mustang GT a couple of times.
Hope to see you around here ...

Im sure he did race in fremont.
We traveled all around the US to various tracks. This is when I was a kid so I can barely remember all the tracks we went to.
What kind of coilovers can you guys recommend? Something fairly cheap but not put my life at risk cheap with dampening adjustment?
Heres some pics of a few of my dads race cars.
They were all built by hand, in our garage at home.
Sponsored by his work, which I work for now, so parts were always free!
