Turn signal causes gauges/lights to flicker
Please GOD can someone here please help with this car! My husband has a 1989 crx hf. When he turns the left turn signal on the gauges fluctuate, and other small lights in the instrument panel flicker on and off too. He replaced the whole turn signal assembly and it still does it. Someone told he that there is probably a loose body wire ground. Does that sound feasible?
The car has not been dubbed the "Antichrist" for no reason! It seems we fix one thing and something else pops up LOL! I really think that every other issue has been resolved but this one. Also, what is the plastic on the back of the instrument panel that looks like a circuit board called? We found that one connection has broken and would like to get another one. I just need to know it's name to find one.

The broken trace on the flexible printed circuit board can be repaired rather than trying to replace it.
You can scrape away the plastic on both sides of the broken area to expose the metal trace. Then carefully solder in a piece of test wire to reestablish the circuit.
You can verify if it is a ground issue by injecting your own ground.
Attach one end of a test wire to a known good ground source and attach the other end to the ground wire on the cluster plug.
(strip the end about 1/4 inch and push the wire into the appropriate slot on the back of the connector.)
Then try the signals and see if the problem persists.

THANK YOU! It's not that we can't work on his car. He and I have repaired many a Honda in our 38 yrs of marriage. This just has us stumped! We will do those things first thing in the morning!
I'm just saying, because the turn signals run through the hazard switch, and there's been people who have had the switch cause issues for them *** well.
I also tried replacing the bulb in it with an L.E.D and although it turned on, my dimmer switch stopped working

You can guarantee we will be checking that too. Thank you SOOOO much !
