Default Looking at '06 Accord, V6, 6-speed manual. Any issues to look for?

As the title says, I'm looking at an '06 Accord, V6, 6-speed manual transmission.

Timing belt / water pump have been changed, about 120,000 miles. The clutch is supposedly in good shape.

Anything specific I should look at? My current ride is a '98 I4, 5-speed manual Accord.

How much does the clutch cost to replace?

Thanks!

Its usually the 5spd auto that has the issues with the transmission. If you have the 6spd m/t you'll be fine. Just do all the other maintenance.

I have this exact car and it's probably one of my favorite cars I've ever driven. While not fast, it has enough power to be fun to drive, it gets great gas mileage (I get better than it's rated for), and it's got plenty of room to haul people/stuff around (I have the 4 door), and handles well.

They don't really have any super common problems other than the 3rd gear notchiness. Honda put out a service bulletin on this and I had mine repaired at 63k miles or so. It didn't seem to be something that you couldn't live with and I got used to it pretty quickly as I drove it for quite a while with the issue. It would just feel like it was in 3rd gear and sometimes it wouldn't be all the way in and would pop out. I just learned that once it felt like it was in gear you had to push it a little harder. I only really got fixed because the dealer did it for free.

The other issue that these cars are famous for is the spark plug working loose on cylinder # 5 and shooting out. That's not something to worry about when buying, but it's something you need to keep an eye on and check occasionally if you do buy it. I had this happen at around 214k miles. It ended up costing me a motor. We put a helicoil in the hole, but the engine was dead on that cylinder. I don't know what actually happened internally as we ended up just putting another used motor in it. After this happened I started reading online and realized that this is a very common issue with these and quite a few other people have had to get replacement motors for the exact same reason.

Other than those two things, these are pretty solid cars. Like any old car, you can expect to replace things, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. On mine the only things I've replaced other than the motor have been axles, brakes, tires, and the A/C compressor and condenser. I now have 230k miles on mine.

As for the clutch, I can't comment on the replacement cost since I've never had just a clutch replaced. The first time when they pulled the transmission at 63k miles I had them replace the clutch just so I didn't have to worry about it again. I only had to pay for the parts, so I figured it was worth it. I'd never had any problems with it. It then lasted to 214k miles when I had to do the motor. I still wasn't having any issues at all with it, but I put another clutch/flywheel in it then since everything was apart.

All of that said, I now have (still have the Accord) a 2013 TL since I wanted something similar, but a little newer. I much prefer the older Accord to the TL. I just with they still made something similar.
