Default Rear ended, what should I do?

What's up HT, as you have read from the title, I was rear ended I bought my car a year ago for $2800 with a salvage title.completely stock 98' Ex coupe. One year and $6k later, I have lowered it, put wheels on it, gsr swapped, etc, etc. Then one day, I was stopped, along with a few cars behind me, yielding to get onto the freeway. Out of nowhere the person behind me pressed their accelerator and went straight into the back of me. They admitted fault and I went in for an estimate. 5 thousand dollars!!! I am now stuck on what to do. Insurance is almost for sure going to total the car. Let me know what you think would be my best option, thank you. Btw, my quarter panel was fine before the crash.

Are you asking if you should fix your civic or move on? Do whatever you want the 5g's are yours.

Ha I wish! No, damages are more than the car is worth. I might get 2k if I'm lucky.

thats kinda what happends when you buy a old car, especially with a salvage title, and pour money into it. Your SOL. Buy it back, take off all your parts and move on.

Some here has no idea how insurance companies work.

Another insurance company can't total your car unless you let them.

This.

Find a new shell to swap everything good over too and be done.

Was the 1/4 panel pushed forward?
I see some dents but hard to tell if the panel is pushed forward

Panel is not pushed forward. Just got a couple of dents in it. The back part of the qp(above taillight) is kind of dented in

If the 1/4 panel is not pushed forward then talk to the insurance and see how much they will give you if you keep the car, if you want the car.
You can replace the bumper, tail light, and trunk hinges your self and have a shop fix those dents and paint it. It wont be $1500 for that.

I was thinking about that. I just feel like I'll run into major fitment problems, due to unknown damage.

Is the pinch weld where the weather strip goes on the trunk kinked or mangled in any way?

Oh, haha. Well without seeing the trunk, its hard to see if it will line up after that 1/4 panel is repaired.

take it to a shop and ask them what it will cost to just repair the panel, no parts or paint and see what they say.

Can you total a totaled car twice and get full blue book value? They say the damage is 5K, but they will pay you what the car is worth, not the price of the damage. I have never had to deal with a salvage title accident so I'm not sure what they will pay as far as the value of the car. I read some companies will only pay 50% of the value.

Who yields getting on the freeway?!

What are you like 80 years old. Why B-swap it if you use the brake pedal more than the accelerator.

I was literally following the law, sorry I'm not a douchebag driver. I was at a YIELD sign. To which I yielded. It was 100% her fault. She didn't even try arguing haha.

Notice the cop in the last picture? He saw the whole thing go down and told insurance I was in the right..? That's strange, isnt it?

I'm not arguing with you anymore. You obviously have nothing relevant to say.

Some freeway entrances have stoplights before the entrance in heavy traffic, other freeway entrances have a short legnth merging lane, and in some heavy traffic yielding is needed.

Just saw the OP bought the car for $2,800. Im going to buy a similar civic for $800 here in CA and go cash out in Washington. Hehe.

Nothing to elaborate on. Another insurance company can not total your car without your consent.

Maybe you should call your own insurance company and ask these questions instead of Honda Tech.

You know. Like a real adult would.
