1995 EG Civic R18 Swap
its definitely different. was there cost savings over a k24 motor? the r18 isn't generally a performance motor so im a little lost on the reason for this build (was the owner tired of all the cookie-cutter civics on the road?)
Correct about the cookie -cutter stuff . I am into doing different things with these Honda engines . It allowed me to also learn all the in's and out's of the wiring and overall engine . when taking the car out for its first real drive , I was impressed that the throttle response had no delay. Now mind you we have not used any type of tuning devices yet . so the power that we felt was all from the stock tune . Price over all was cheaper than doing a K swap . R18 axles where compatible with the EG . The mounts is a mixture of Hasport mounts that they sell . As Hasport does not yet make a kit . Wiring is the same as the DBW k20Z engines . which I solved a few years ago . Even the shifter we got off another Honda that worked perfect. All other parts where off the shelf parts you could get at your local autopart store or Ebay. Once it comes back from Paint . We plain to dyno the car before and after the reflash to get you the pros and cons of the swaps power . Once that all happens . this fall we plain to boost the car . As there is nothing hard about bolting a kit up at this point .

but those number come from being in a stock car . which weights 33-3500 pounds. now in a car that weighs in at 2251. that is a difference. so the 138 hp that you are quoting . is not correct for this setup.
power to the wheel and power to the crank are two different things . so when the engine is dyno in a car that is 3000 lbs . then same engine is put in a a car which weights 1500 lbs . the engine is power to weight is not going to change on the dyno . so mass of a object will not change the factors of acceleration then is what you are telling me ? well all the laws of physics are then out the window then. but you have the right to say what you like . that is fine by me .

Oh boy, this again. And tony, if they actually think that horsepower is dependant on chassis weight, then they could be the masters of swapping jet engines into Civics,

Wheel HP and Crank HP are two different things, you're right.
Your comment starts to get fuzzy when you compare different weight cars on a dyno. Let's be clear here, the vehicles weight has zero effect on dyno results. You'll get 138hp regardless of the vehicle.
But then you get into talking about power to weight, this is an entirely different thing. Power to weight is the ratio of weight:horsepower. For instance, putting an R18 into a go-kart would be fiercely fast, because the go-kart is very light and the engine would propel it effortlessly (probably around 0.3hp per pound). However, put that same R18 into a full-size SUV and you'd be lucky to pull away from a stop sign (around 0.02hp per pound). This is power-to-weight in action.
Your R18 EG would certainly be of better power:weight than the original heavier Civic it came in, this is obvious.
But the horsepower does not change.
