03 CR-V Heat
Hello i am new to honda's this is my first honda and post i have a 2003 Honda CR-V 4WD 284,000 miles on it. Someone mixed honda blue with standard green and clogged the heater core, I have sence flushed the entire system unclogged the core, replaced the valve and gotten all the bubbles out of the system. now my problem is i have no heat at idling. when driving i have some heat the blower works, the temp gauge works all the ***** change the directions like should, ac is turned off but does work when i turn it on. I know the car only has a 170 termastat compared to the avg 195 so i know it wont have great heat but it currently has almost no heat even after running and driving around for a hour. any ideas on what i can check?
"honda blue" and "standard green" are the same. the difference being colour. Theyre both ethylene glycol.
You likely dont have all of the air out of the system. get a lisle spill free coolant funnel and let it run with the funnel filled until no more bubbles come out. If you put a lid loosely on top of the funnel and wait a while, then lift the lid off and smell it and smell exhaust, you need a head gasket.

Similar issue when we bled my sisters 05 CRV, no heat.
What we did was rebleed the system but this time we rev'ed the engine to 2k rpm and held it there for a while until the water pump start pulling fluid from the heater core. After we had good heat at idle we stopped.
Note: All oem parts, water pump, thermostat hoses and the blue coolant. STRAIGHT FROM AN ONLINE OEM DEALER. YRMV

i was told to never mix honda blue with anything and when i flushed the rad and heater it looked like old battery acid does on top of old batteries, i shall try airing it out again this time holding the rpms up
ok so apparntly the water pump jus took a nose dive and is seeping fluid which is why i am not getting heat, now need to replace that which isnt to bad 50 bucks for a new one and my friend has a gear puller to remove the crank gear out the way, glad this one isnt on the timing like most cars.
