1993 Honda Del Sol Si 1.6L || Stuck Bolt || Brake Caliper
I was wondering if it was ok to torch/heat a stuck bolt that is so close to brake fluid or brake line?
In the image below, i have circled in red, the stuck bolt on my brake caliper.
It is 1 of the 2 bolts that hold my emergency brake cable to the caliper.
Circled in blue, i just felt like showing the brake line.
Please note that the stuck bolt has pretty much been rounded off.
Again, just looking for tips and thoughts on removal of the stuck bolt, and also, if someone could answer my first initial question above, that would be swell.
Re: 1993 Honda Del Sol Si 1.6L || Stuck Bolt || Brake Caliper
Spray is with some kind of penetrating oil. And if that's the actual picture of your caliper I would grab a pair of channel-locks or a hammer and try to break the bracket itself loose.
Once the bracket moves use some vise-grips on the bolt head.
Re: 1993 Honda Del Sol Si 1.6L || Stuck Bolt || Brake Caliper
Definitely not a good idea to torch or heat the bolt, if my logic is correct the bolt would expand anyway due to heat and be more difficult to remove.
As ehmxhack has suggested, spray it with oil on both sides, leave for an amount of time and try loosen it.
But as a last resort, due to the head being rounded off as you said you're probably best sourcing a new bolt then drilling through the centre of this one and doing away with it anyways.

Hey team!
Thanks for the responses.
RonJ,
i think i might get one of those bolt extracting sockets! nice.
This will be a good double team with the heat i'd like to apply.
Ok, so i thought i'd add a couple of more pictures just to show further what i'm dealing with here.
Here is a straight on look at the caliper with Brake line detached.
Again, red is the stuck bolt, and blue is the brake line.
Sorry for the over exposure with the LED Lighting.
Here is another above shot to give perspective.
I think i may do some more hammering first as suggested.
After thought though, I think that, since I've detached the brake line and emptied the caliper of brake fluid, i'm thinking it may be OK to start heat'n this bad boy up! I know a couple of you have mentioned that this is a bad idea.
After looking at the above pics, please let me know if you think that heating it up is still a bad idea, or am i out of harms way with the detaching of the brake line.
