Default Complete/Correct EG Brake Upgrade (?)

Looking to do a complete and correct brake upgrade to my non-ABS equipped EG.

Here's where I'm at and I just want to confirm that this is the best set-up (for the money) without going BBK.

Front:

Integra knuckles
Stock 10.3'' rotors
Wilwood DPHA calipers
Carbotech 7812 pads (1512 compound)
Honda Civic EX 15/16 master cylinder
Integra RS prop valve
Goodridge SS brake lines

Rear:

Integra rear trailing arms
Stock rotors
Stock caliper
Goodridge SS brake lines
EG Si parking brake cables

I'm not a fan of swapping prop valves, but since this will essentially be an Integra RS set-up with Wilwood calipers I figured the prop valve should go with it.

Will the 15/16 MC be enough for the increased piston area of the Wilwood calipers?

Thanks.

Everything looks good except for the Wilwood Calipers. Every experience I've personally heard from my friends is that they're garbage.

They all just threw them on their cars, but if you can? Go OEM every time. After all, they're better-paid, better-educated, better-trained engineers designing the stuff.

Anyway, here's what I would do if I were you:

Run OEM Integra Calipers (RS to GSR) and use a better compound up front with stock compound in the rear. Keep all of the other parts you're adding to the build.

I have a friend who runs Honda Challenge H2 with that exact setup:

OEM Integra brakes with Hawk DTC 60 Pads up front, Autozone Pads in rear, stainless lines, and DOT 4 fluid.

His car is, of course, caged, gutted, and it has a B16B making 200 HP.

Also, I didn't change my prop valve and I haven't had any lockup issues with my EJ2 yet. I've heard somewhere that the prop valve is more for weight distribution and chassis-specific than it is brake-specific (if you know what I mean).

I too did a 15/16 MC, but I used the 91 EX MC since I didn't have ABS in my Civic DX and wanted to keep my build simple until I felt like adding the ABS in.

Check out my build thread for details:

Not what I want to hear.

I don't want to use Integra calipers because of the weight. The Wilwood DPHA are inviting for both weight and price (1/3 cost of Spoon calipers, most likely at the cost of quality).

I'm using the 91 Civic EX MC as well.

I agree with you on the prop valve. I've done the rear disc conversion, but I've still got my original VX prop valve. Never had an issue with it, of course I've never done much more that ~70mph with the Z1 engine.

Thanks for the info.

okay, schumacher.

When you're skilled enough to notice the unsprung weight difference, you should put your application in for F1 and move up from the WEC.
