ECU question.
I have the 37820 P8C A53 ecu and according to the Honda dealership this is the only part number I can use. I have looked at many places on the internet saying the 37820 P8C A72 is interchangeable, but at the prices I am not about to chance it.
The dealership here also charges $75 to program the ecu even if doesn't work. I took one in that was supposedly interchangeable, they "programmed" it and said it wouldn't communicate. I then talked to parts dept about which would work and they told me only the A53 model would work with my car. There is one more for the VIN on my car but it only works if the fuel pressure regulator has a "dot" on it.
I been trying to find a rebuild service for my ecu and the one that does rebuilds for Autozone said they do them but couldn't do my model. That company is called Blue Streak. Cardone tech support couldn't tell me if they do the model, just told me send it on and they will tell me if they do it then. OK that makes no sense. Can you repair that model or not? You are not a new company or a small business you should know if you can or not.
Can anyone help out?

Don't have an answer...just some information.
Many of the early 6th gen V6's have/had an issue with "heat soak". The service bulletin (00-024) for this issue suggested that the FPR and the PCM be replaced with updated/changed versions. So I'm guessing that is why there is conflicting information.
