Civic Si 2004 door lock issue - HELP
I have a 2004 Civic Si hatch. The key fob for the auto door locks stopped working. I can hear it struggling to work and it seems like the mechanism is just jammed or something. is this easy to fix?
Do you have another fob you could try? Usually, it's the actuators on the doors that fail in these kinds of situations - do the locks on all doors and the hatch not lock/unlock?
I do have another fob and I tried it. Neither of the doors or the trunk lock/unlock with the fob. But when I listen to the drivers side door, it seems like the jam is in that actuator. Is it hard to replace this actuator? Do they still make it? Or, if I open up the interior door panel, is it easy to fix?
They still make them, but like all parts for the EP3, there is a ticking clock on them. Search on Youtube, there's one very good video that I saw, which shows you how to remove the metal bar that makes space there so tight. Once you do that, it's a piece of cake, relatively. Door panel removal is a PITA; more screws than you would think. And you'll probably want to order several of the plastic clips for the panels, as you'll break a couple when you remove them.
I know, late to the game...I bought the new actuators from Amazon, like $40 a side, now my car can unlock with a button push. Youtube is your friend, or find a good stereo shop and pay for it. Worth it imo...so nice to have working locks again!
