First complete engine build!
Hello Everybody!
Well I'm definitely NOT new to Honda-Tech. I just figured I am constantly looking up things on this website and since I am starting my first DIY complete engine build, it's about time that I make an account!
So, my Eg hatch. I bought the car with a Z6 that's already built. It is 14:1 compression, LS rods, ported head, comp cam, and runs on E85.. and it's my daily lol. It dynoed 173whp with ITBs but after all the beatings it's endured, I think it is finally about to give up.. So its time for me to build it.
I've done a little work to it here and there. I installed a fresh Y8 transmission with an Mfactory dif, Rpf1s, Koni/gc set up, ASR rear sway and subframe brace, F7 LCAs, Quick release, Spoon strut tower brace, WS2 exhaust, had some panels repainted, alarm, etc etc.. all pretty simple stuff
I'm still deciding which route I am going to take. Ultimately I think my power goal is to be making 350whp most likely on pump gas. I only work part time because I am in Nursing school full time. I also have been trying to do the fitness thing for the last year and a half so my days are really busy.
Thus far the only thing I have bought is an engine stand. lol
I plan on buying a complete z6 block, tearing it down and doing forged rods and pistons. Running a low boost set up from ebay until I can afford a quality kit as time goes by. Reliability is the ultimate goal.
I will try and attach some pictures of it and my other car if anyone is interested. That's my trans am. It's a heads cam car that my dad and I built together back when I was in highschool. Here's the set up:
Engine/Trans
Stock short block
F13 230/232 cam
PRC stage 2.5 ported 5.3l heads
Fast 102 Intake Manifold
42lb injectors
25 percent UD pulley
Mcleod RXT twin disc clutch
Racetronix fuel pump
And many other supporting mods
Suspension:
Koni Shocks
Strano Springs
Strano front sway
Founder's Panhard
Founder's LCAs w/ Relo brackets
Founder's Torque arm
Thats the basics about both my cars. I hope to find some good help on this forum as I have in the past. I need every little bit of knowledge I can get.
