I have a 91 Civic Si that stalled out while driving on the freeway a few days ago. The engine will turn over but won't start.

First thing I checked was for spark and there was none. So I replaced the ignition coil with a working one. Still nothing, no start, and no spark. So I ordered a new distributor online and still nothing. The fuel pump primes and the CEL comes on for a few seconds then shuts off when the key is in the ON position. I have also resoldered the main relay with no luck as well. The ignition switch is less than 6 months old. I'm going to switch out the ignition switch with an old one I have laying around just to eliminate it. The timing belt looks fine, I have the top timing belt cover off and can visually see that it's not shredded.

Any other idea's on what to look for? I have googled and most threads lead to a bad ignition coil, igniter, or bad main relay. The car is stock besides a DC header that came with the car when I bought it two years ago.

 

Sounds tough.
Do you have fuel pressure?
Are your grounds on? (specifically the one on the thermostat)
Do you have compression?
Where did you check for spark?

 

Thanks for the reply but I solved this whole **** show. The camshaft snapped.

 

oh ****. I was going to say timing jumped a tooth!
Hope you didn't bend any valves.

 

Lets hope not. If it did then oh well. The head needs new valve stem seals anyway.
