h22a1 h22a4 head gasket question

h22a1 h22a4 head gasket question
honda gave the h22a4's a 3 layer metal head gasket to make up for the reduced rigidity of the a4's open deck. IS THIS AN UPGRADE FOR H22A1's? I've asked all around, including preludeonline and h22a.org - anyone know?

don't go on my word alone, but I havent noticed a difference between the two, and if I'm not mistaken, I've used both.
One easy way to tell is to call the Honda dealer and ask for the part numbers for both of teh head gaskets. If they're different, then they're different. If theyre the same, then you should be ok.

they can have a different part number, but if the water jackets are the same and the bolt holes line up then it should be fine. I'm going to honda to have my friend order them, and then we'll see.
