I recently installed a quaife rack and pinion. I was looking through some of the past threads and there's one part where they install a rack guide. Mines did not have that or a lock nut. Mines only had the spring and nut.

If any one can give me insight it would be great.

 

whats the question? youre missing the lock nut on the original rack?

you reuse those parts from the original rack.

 

Yeah I'm missing the lock nut and the rack guide. It's was stock rack and pinion. It has the same looking lock nut but it's part of the gear box.

 

btw, the quaife rack only fits in the DX rack. it will not work in the Si rack.

it takes modification to make it fit in the Si rack, only an idiot would try to modify it to fit when they can just use the right rack.

 

Nope, no modifications at all. Went in smooth, the only difficult things were pressing in the bearing and pressing the pinion into the housing. Also the steering housing has SH3 on it.
