93 GS-R - Head gasket replacement and other repairs
Hey guys I have a 1993 GS-R that I need to replace a few parts on. The head gasket is most critical. Also need a thermostat, radiator cap, outer CV boot and fuel filter.
I'm looking to buy a high(ish) quality gasket set for the B17A1 motor in my car. Everywhere I look for parts, seems to have terrible reviews.
I wanted to buy from RockAuto.com but their shipping prices to Canada are really high, and most of the parts came out of different warehouses which made the price go up even higher.
So I'm kinda stuck on where to buy parts. No way I'm going local, the prices around here are outrageous. $420 tax in for all those parts and it comes with a Fel-pro HS9274PT3.

I would just put OEM parts on it, look up part numbers and check Amazon. I recently did timing chain in my TSX and ordered everything off Amazon.
I ended up buying 4 of the 5 parts from RockAuto. Came to about $192.85.
That's the crappy thing about buying from Canada, all the parts are in the states and with the dollar being at 0.72 it makes buying things kinda tough.
Ended up buying a Victor Reinz head gasket kit so I could also replace the valve stem seals at the same time that I have the head off.

Victor Reinz makes headgaskets for Euro cars. I Don't think they're crappy headgaskets, but like you, I would only use a Honda headgasket. But Victor Reinz is much better than one made in China from AutoZone.
So theres no honda or acura dealership in your area or something? any vtec B series head gasket should work. and every dealership can order them or have them in stock. Did i miss something..
