Default Axles sticking out from trans and leaking

So while i was doing a oil change today i noticed i was leaking mtf on the passenger side where the axel meets the manual transmission. I dont know to much about axels, so i just tried to push it into the transmission but it wouldn't budge. It did however go up in down loosely if that means anything.

Do i replace the axel or take it off and align it back in? Im not to sure what to do, so any advice is appreciated

Heres a pic of the leaking passenger side -

Is it normal for them to stick out that far? I wouldn't want it to pop out on me while driving

Heres the driver side -

More than likely your axle seals are worn and need to be replaced. In replacing those you will take out and reinstall your axles and you can make sure they are seated into the differential then. They look seated though.

Oh i had no idea there was seals in between the two.
That looks to be the problem so they're now on my to do list.
Thank you

Skim through the FAQ stickied at the top of this section , you may find a diy for it.

Also post car information.

This^ is a separate more important issue.

You need to remove the axles to replace the oil seals, so this is a convenient time to replace the axles if they are old or bad. It's also a good time to replace the MT fluid.

The two axle oil seals are usually damaged when installing the axles.

Carefully remove the oil seals with a flathead screwdriver. Install new ones flush with exterior of differential. Grease oil seal lip and contact point on axle prior to re-installing axle.

After axles are installed, drain the MT fluid and fill with fresh Honda MT fluid.

Ok thank you both very much.
The boots look fine but i will be changing my lower ball joints when i replace the seals.
I see a few DIY's, so it should be hopefully a cake walk.

Thanks again
