Help with lifting/bigger tires/lower offset on 06' CRV
Hey everybody, new here and looked around a bit but couldn't make much sense of what I found so apologies if this is in the wrong place.
I'm looking to put beefier looking tires and rims with a lower offset so they jut out just a bit but I don't know much about either of these things, the guys at the tire place say I can't do it but I've seen it around so there must be a way.
Any help and other suggestions to make my V look even cooler would be much appreciated!
Re: Help with lifting/bigger tires/lower offset on 06' CRV
You can buy wheel spacers...probably the easiest thing to do if you're looking for make them stick out. You could keep the stock wheels and run beefier tires and get a cooler look. If you want to go crazy, then you're probably looking a 2" lift and some 235 tires. There is a 80 page thread at the top of this forum with pictures of lifted CRV's...find one you like and then we can discuss more what you'd need to do.
The flat black one on this page is pretty much what I'm aiming for as far as tires sticking out but I'd wanna lift it a little too.
My question is will I get away with getting those tires before the lift or do I need to lift it first? I am in desperate need of new tires so I figure now is the time. They told me at the tire place if I offset them that much though I wouldn't be able to turn very well is that true?
Re: Help with lifting/bigger tires/lower offset on 06' CRV
So, you're definitely going to have some rubbing when going over bumps and when you turn the wheel too far. Could you run them? Yes...but just be prepared for some occasional rubbing.
Re: Help with lifting/bigger tires/lower offset on 06' CRV
I'm not an expert on that year model, but from what I've read, a 2" lift should do you ok. You just need to keep in mind how a lift is going to effect your camber and CV joints. Bigger lifts mean more alignment issues, which means perhaps also buying an adjustable camber system...and increasing the CV joint angle can cause premature wear as well. Everything has a cause and effect. That's why for people that DD these things, it's better to stick with a mild build. A 2" lift should be ok though.
Re: Help with lifting/bigger tires/lower offset on 06' CRV
I really appreciate the quick replies! So where would you recommend I get a lift kit from? I've found 1 so far but its nearly 600 bucks is that normal?
These guys. Or look at Old Man Emu or perhaps Dobinson.....one of those 3 is what most people have done it looks like. Or you could go rouge (which is why I'm trying to do) and run Bilstein shocks and some custom springs/rates to do exactly what you want. You're looking $450-1000 no matter which option you do....for just the lift. Tires and wheels will be another large expense.

i run 245/70r16 general grabber AT2's on ProComp Krawler 16x8 -7 rims with 7mm spacers (to clear the caliper). I had to do a bunch of cutting and ive got the OME 1.5" lift rear springs. I dont rub at all except at full lock when turning.
a guy a work has 235/75r15's on his stock 2nd gen and he doesnt rub at all.

Whoa those are big tires do you have pics of that beast? This guy who has the 235s didn't cut anything or lift and its all good? Do you know if he used spacers or what his rim offset was? The rims I'm looking at are -6

for me, thats WAY too dark. they wont be visible at all during the day and thats dangerous. i prefer just a light oemish tint. they do look good though. Maybe try a black tire cover? idk.

Yeah they look a lot darker in the picture then they really are. You can still see the lights when they're on. I was thinking of maybe wrapping that inside circle on the cover carbon fiber or something and getting a black and white custom plate. The only problem I have now is my reverse lights don't go very far, any suggestions for aftermarket brighter bulbs? Their are a few people in town here that are crazy they have there's completely blacked out and it is dangerous you can't ever tell when they're using there brakes
