JDM ITR trans maintenance and compatibility questions
I put this in the ITR forum but it's super slow over there.
So I just bought a JDM ITR trans for HMO
Is there any maintenance I should do while I have the trans out and it's easy to work on...any seals I should just replace now preemptively?
I've read a lot of conflicting info about using USDM axles with a JDM trans, which I'd love to do because I have a set of USDM GSR Axel's and half shaft in the shed ....will USDM Axles work or will the splines not match up?
I've done a little reading and I've heard of people having issues with interchanging USDM/JDM flywheels/starters. Keep a JDM flywheel with a JDM starter and vise versa. Which is fine because I plan on getting a JDM flywheel from HMO as well(trans came with a starter.)....but will I have any problems putting an exedy USDM OEM ITR clutch on a JDM flywheel?

i would get the axles out of the shed and see if they fit. that way you actually know rather than read it on the internet.
if the transmission is leaking replace the seal that is leaking...
i have never heard about jdm parts like clutches, flywheels and so on being different. When I have had JDM, USDM and aftemarket flywheels side by side they all were the same diameter and same teeth.

Thanks for the clutch info
I just figured with the seals to replace them no whole it's out I doubt they'll be expensive and I'd hate to have to do them a couple months after install
Thanks again man!

Everything on the jdm trans is 100% compatible with the usdm and jdm parts. You can feel free to order any flywheel or clutch kit.
As far as maintenance while its out. I absolutely will break down, clean and inspect all that parts on all used transmissions. I take the opportunity to change over to Carbon synchros as original units with some miles on them can be hit or miss. You may find a high rpm grind or notchiness develop even when they measure in spec and physically appear ok. A great shifting, quiet transmission is a wonderful thing.

Inner CV joints are the same, JDM '98+ ITR has different (larger 36mm) outer joints. So unless you're also planning on swapping on some JDM 5 lug knuckles just use regular Integra axles.
