99 em1 baffled
So I've had my em1 for 3 years and it's been great. 238xxx original miles and going strong.....until now. So i was backing up into my spot at work and got a little to close to the edge of the parking lot and got the can stuck on the curb (not really a curb but it sticks up higher than the rest of the lot). I went to pull forward because at the time I didnt realize the can was caught, well it jerked the car and stalled it. Fired it right back up got out and picked the car up and moved it off the curb. Ran great at idle fired right up everytime but when I go in first and second i will get to about 2k, 2500 rpm and shuts down but kicks right back on. Everything in the car stays on but the motor and the gas guage drops. I'm thinking I might have messed up the fuel pump ground when i jolted the exhaust on the curb but I'm unsure. I had a heck of a time getting it to start this morning and when i finally got it to stay running, i pushed in the clutch and instantly the gas guage started to drop and the car died. I have never seen anything lkke this before. Anyone have any ideas or can tell me if the fuel pump has a dedicated ground? I know of the common grounds in the engine bay but is there any others i should check? I'm just baffled at what would cause the short when i push in the clutch. Any ideas?
Oh it does. I got it running. I've been driving it with it just cutting out every so often. But this morning it wouldnt start and when i got it started my wife came back to take me to work and i pushed in the clutch to put the car in reverse to shut it off and as soon as i pushed in the clutch the gas guage dropped and the car died.
