So I just bought a JDM ITR trans for HMO

Is there any maintenance I should do while I have the trans out and it's easy to work on...any seals I should just replace now preemptively?


I've read a lot of conflicting info about using USDM axles with a JDM trans, which I'd love to do because I have a set of USDM GSR Axel's and half shaft in the shed ....will USDM Axles work or will the splines not match up?


I've done a little reading and I've heard of people having issues with interchanging USDM/JDM flywheels/starters. Keep a JDM flywheel with a JDM starter and vise versa. Which is fine because I plan on getting a JDM flywheel from HMO as well(trans came with a starter.)....but will I have any problems putting an exedy USDM OEM ITR clutch on a JDM flywheel?

 

Never had an issue with anything other than the alternator belt. The size of the pulley (under driven), is different from that of the USDM models. That being said, a 295K4 is too small and a 305K4 is too big but will work with slippage. The 300K4 is damn near impossible to find because it doesn't list for any vehicles I can think of. Every parts store locally fell short, even online. I ended up finding a 300K4 at a lawnmower shop and even they only had one. You can get them online though without a problem.

So the trans I bought came with a JDM starter.

Will there be any grinding issues with a flywheel for a USDM ITR? (Exedy HF01)
