HELP!! Black smoke from exhaust running extremely rich
Hi I have a 02 RSX type-S with k20A2 and cars running extremely rich I wasted full tank and a 1/2 to go no more than 150 miles.. I changed the spark plugs. O2 sensors and I'ma change the fuel pump today . I wanted to know what else can it be if it's none of the above.. The car has a CAI with 2 1/2 exhaust . The catalytic converter was rewelded with O2 sensors at the ends, and I was wondering if that can be an issue of the secondary O2 is suppose to be in the middle and not at the end of the catalytic converter because it looks to have the whole for it.
Re: HELP!! Black smoke from exhaust running extremely rich
Holy damn!! Who welded that cat in? They did a really poor job. Did they replace the O2 sensors correctly? They might of switch them around. Looks like a hi-flow cat. Get someone to weld it in properly dude.
Re: HELP!! Black smoke from exhaust running extremely rich
Is your "Check Engine" light on ??? If so, what codes are stored ??? Your Primary O2 sensor (front one) should actually be an A/F Ratio sensor which is a wideband O2 sensor. Make sure they aren't swapped as stated above, and if you still have O2 related codes, then replace them as necessary. Also, welding at or close to O2 sensors can damage them if they weren't removed during the welding process.
